With every new year comes a change in organization and change in technology. Most companies like to avoid it until they are forced to change based on something breaking or the cost becomes a bit more than they expected. We estimated that organizations would be switched to Lightning in October of this year, but they have announced that the official switch will be in January 2020. You can start preparing for the switch to Salesforce Lightning Experience now!

Here are 5 recommendations to prepare if you have not made the switch already.

  1. Communicate to your organization that the change is coming and what will be different. It is always important, especially with Sales, to communicate well in advance of any change.
  2. Talk to your Sales Ops (if you are not that person) and do the Lightning readiness assessment. There are quite a few changes in how the software works and how to execute tasks like creating leads and converting them to opportunities.
  3. Get up to speed quickly in how to use Lightning (I have copied a few tips from Salesforce below).
  4. Develop and schedule training for the Sales team before the end of the year.
  5. Turn on the experience for yourself and partners in Sales.  You can still go back and forth between the Classic and Lightning Experience.
